Section IX does not prequalify WPSs. Every production WPS must be supported by one or more PQRs.
Qualify a procedure (PQR)
Record coupon data and mechanical tests. QW-451.1 / QW-461.9 ranges are calculated, then used to generate production WPSs.
Preliminary WPS (coupon only)
For welding the qualification coupon. Not valid for production. After the PQR is signed, generate the production WPS from the PQR (QW-200.2).
